New Art Added In Downtown Jackson

Some new murals have been painted in downtown Jackson.

The walls of The Local were painted over the past week by artist Frances Berry.

The work was commissioned by the Jackson Downtown Development Corporation to brings some more color to downtown.

The organization says the abstract nature of the murals fits in well with the feel of the local.

"It’s meaningful in as much as the Local is a creative hub in Jackson and so the artwork itself might be esoteric and abstract but the meaning is we're taking a blank surface in downtown and installing art and I don't think this will be the last you see of this."

The Local has been open since fall of last year.
