731 Day Celebrated Across The Area Code

731 Day started bright and early with a beautifying project at North Parkway Middle School.

United Way of West Tennessee along with some volunteers wanted to use the day to give back to their local community.

“So every county that we serve is area code 731 and so we want to be part of it because we serve the 731 area code, and we want to make sure that we’re giving back and giving people an opportunity to give back,” said Scott Conger, of United Way.

There were also many family friendly activities going on in the Hub City, like an art project at Woodstock Bakery for only 7 dollars and 31 cents.

Families say 731 Day helped them end their summer before school starts back up at the end of the week.

“It just looked like there was a lot to do today and we have the kids with us today since school hasn’t started yet so I was just wanting to give them something fun to do before school starts,” said Olivia Jowers.

People enjoyed sales around the community all day long.

Rock N Dough celebrated 731 day by having pizza and beer available for only 7 dollars and 31 cents as well.

And Our Jackson Home welcomed people to their pop up shop with new gear so people can represent the city of Jackson.

Also on the schedule, a community event at Casey Jones Village.

Hundreds of people are gathered to blow off some steam at the third annual 731 Day water balloon fight.

"Just to have a good time, make sure everybody has a fun time and just really have fun," said Zowie Campbell.

The community spent 731 Day in all these different activities celebrating their love for the place they live.
