The American Book Company is taking over Parragon, but they are still searching for companies to take over the rest of the space.

It's a new chapter for Parragon books.

The general manager of Parragon, Randy Watkins say the American Book Company will be taking over a large portion of Parragon.

“We have an agreement and principle from a company in east Tennessee  to purchase the assets, liabilities, and assume the employees effective June 1st,” says Watkins.

ABC is located in Knoxville and is a wholesale distributor of overstock books.

They will not only be taking over a large portion of the building and equipment, they'll also be keeping a large number of employees.

“Everyone works really hard so this new opportunity for us could be good change for all of us,” says Archer.

The next step for the center is to find third party distribution and fulfillment costumers.

Even with the takeover, a large partion of the building is still available and they're searching for a large company or a number of small companies to occupy the space.

“So we’ll definitely have capacity to do fulfillment, kitting and storage and distribution for new costumers to be found yet,” says Watkins.

Instead of a single distribution center, the company will become a 3PL.

Watkins says they  got over the first bump in the road and many of the jobs will be saved.

He hopes that with putting the word out, the rest of the center can find someone as well.
