Jackson Generals Media day
The sounds of bats cracking at generals stadium can only mean one thing, baseball is back.
.
The 2018 Jackson generals have arrived to the hub city as the team prepares for its upcoming campaign.
With spring training over and opening day just a couple days away, these players are excited to get back on the field and play some meaningful baseball in front of the Jackson fans.
“Its exciting, its always like a little kid on Christmas. It’s the best time of the year.’
New generals manager Shelly Duncan says he expects an exciting team this year.
“this is that is going to be a fun team to watch because we’re going to play the game hard, we’re going to do the little things that win baseball games, and we’re going to put pressure on the opposing team. This is going to be a fun team to watch.”
Duncan, who has played and worked under world series winning managers such as Joe Maddon and Joe Torre, hopes to bring some of what he has learned to the generals.
“there is a little piece of every single one of them that I liked and a little piece of every single one of them that I have brought to myself. Hopefully those experiences with them can make me a better manager and that can translate in making these guys into better players.”
Pitcher Alex Young, who is returning for his second stint with the generals, says this team is poised to be very good in 2018.
“ we can win a lot of games. Last year we went on a hot streak at the beginning. Twenty five-thrity wins in thirty five-forty games, so I think we can definitely do that again and continue it through the season. We have a lot of talent on this team, so I am excited.
