Mentor U Campus Day

Jackson State Community College will be hosting area middle school students on campus for Mentor U day. Students who are currently participating in the Mentor U program will have an opportunity to hear about JSCC and experience some of the college’s offerings firsthand. Beginning at 10:00 a.m., students will be broken into three groups and tour three different interactive activity labs on campus.

This is JSCC's 3rd year involved in the Mentor U Program. The students are 6,7, and 8th graders. Five higher-education institutions in Madison County support the Mentor U Program along with the Jackson-Madison County School System.

The five-college Mentoring Collaborative known as “Mentor U” targets middle school students in the Jackson-Madison County School System. Students apply through their parents for the program which provides one-on-one mentoring from student, faculty, and staff from Lane College, the University of Memphis Lambuth, the Tennessee College of Applied Technology, Jackson State Community College, and Union University. The goal of this initiative, sparked by the Presidents of the five colleges, is to better prepare students for college and fulfilling careers through positive adult influences.
