SHILOH - On Saturday, March 31, Shiloh National Military Park will host National Park Day 2018 at Shiloh Battlefield, sponsored by the Civil War Trust. Since 1996, this annual event brings together Civil War enthusiasts and National Park supporters from around the country who volunteer their time and energy to help preserve our nation’s battlefields.
From 9:00 am – 1:00 pm, volunteers and rangers will be erecting split-rail fences around several of the historic 1862-era farm fields. All volunteers will receive a free Park Day t-shirt courtesy of the Civil War Trust.
Volunteers are asked to bring work gloves, and to wear appropriate clothing and footwear for the weather conditions. Necessary tools and drinking water will be provided.
Anyone interested in volunteering is invited to register in advance as space is limited. Contact the Shiloh Visitor Center at 731-689-5696 or email Chris Mekow at email@example.com. Volunteers will sign in at the Visitor Center starting at 8:30 am on Saturday, March 31, to receive t-shirts. Rain or severe weather will cancel the event.
