Nelly concert another part of Music community in Jackson

Jackson has a long history of music and that tradition continues this spring when Nelly comes play at the Jackson Generals ballpark.

Getting an artist of his size has a positive reverberating impact on the community's quality of life says the Jackson Chamber of Commerce.

"More and more people are moving to cities for the experience of that community, as opposed to for a job, so anything we can do to have a help Jackson have a higher quality of life is excellent for us in recruiting and retaining people" said Ryan Porter, COO, Jackson Chamber of Commerce.

The concert will be one in a long list of music shows that happen throughout the region

"Jackson has always been a entertainment hub, we've always had a great offering of music on a smaller scale. On an average week, we average about 30 live music event in Jackson and West Tennessee" according to Lori Nunnery, Executive Director of Visit Jackson.

The hope is that this concert and others like it in the future will become another part of the extensive music options in the city

"From the music of the Rock-A-Billy hall of fame to the plectoral society out at the old country store to the museum over at the Carnegie featuring different artists from all over West Tennessee, we do have a lot of great assets, what this does is just help solidify that in our community."
