Propane Provides Alternative to Electricity
Keeping your home warm in this cold weather might mean using your own propane tank to do so. Propane is an energy source used in millions of homes, but if you are using your own tank this winter you need to make sure it's properly cared for.
Jackson Energy Authority tells us right now they're working hard to get enough propane out to those with home tanks in more rural areas although JEA itself manages and monitors the propane fuel servicing homes around town.
Steve Bowers of JEA tells NBC39, his company ( JEA ) tries to alleviate A lot of those concerns...about, how much fuel is needed in the tank and all that stuff, we try to take care of that for customers, because we're out there, we know the usage and other things, so it's a little different for our customer base than with many when they're responsible for doing it all...
If you have a propane take, there are a few steps to take to make sure you and your home stay safe this winter.
Bowers say schedule your tank for routine maintenance checks, and be sure there is always enough fuel inside.
Also, keep the space around your tank and your vents and chimney free from ice and snow and never store a propane tank indoors.
